For parents

More than just a workout.

Kids today are more sedentary, more screen-bound, and more anxious than any generation before them. Sport and movement is one of the simplest, most evidence-backed interventions we have — for their bodies, their brains, and their confidence.

We help kids build a lifelong love of being active.

At CrossFit 1864 Kids, your child will learn to move properly, build real strength and coordination, and have an absolute blast doing it — all under the guidance of qualified coaches in a small group setting where every kid gets attention, every kid is included, and every kid leaves feeling good about themselves.

Class structure

Built for every age.

Each class is age-appropriate — same coaches, same values, different focus depending on what your child is ready for.

Ages 5–8

Little Movers

For our youngest athletes. Play-led classes that focus on fundamental movement: running, jumping, climbing, throwing, balancing. Lots of games. Lots of laughter.

  • 45-minute sessions
  • Game-based learning
  • Body weight only
  • Big focus on having fun
Ages 9–12

Junior Athletes

As kids develop, we layer in technique, structure, and a real sense of progress. They start learning the squat, the press, and bodyweight gymnastics — all properly coached.

  • 60-minute sessions
  • Movement technique
  • Light, scaled loading
  • Personal goals & PRs
Ages 13–15

Teen Strength

For teenagers ready for more. Real strength training, real conditioning, real coaching — taught the same way we'd teach an adult, scaled to their stage of development.

  • 60-minute sessions
  • Barbell & dumbbell work
  • Strength & conditioning
  • Confidence-building focus
What they walk away with

More than fitness.

The physical wins are obvious. The bigger wins are everything else.

Strength & coordination

Real, lasting physical literacy — the kind that helps with every other sport they'll ever play, and stays with them for life.

Confidence

The feeling of "I can do something I couldn't do last week" is one of the most powerful things a kid can experience. They get that here, every week.

Friends & community

They train with the same group every week. Real friendships form here — the kind built on shared effort, not just classroom proximity.

A break from the screen

An hour of being fully present, fully physical, and fully unplugged. In a world built to grab their attention, that's worth more than ever.

Discipline & focus

Following a coach. Listening to instruction. Pushing through hard things. Habits that translate to everything else — school, sport, life.

A love of movement

This is the goal. Kids who love being active grow into adults who stay active. That's the most important gift we can give them.

Inside a class

What a session
actually looks like.

Here's what a typical kids class looks like — structured, age-appropriate, and packed with energy.

1

Welcome & warm-up — 5 min

Coaches greet every child by name. A fun warm-up game — tag, races, animal walks — gets blood flowing and everyone smiling. By the end of the warm-up, every kid in the room is engaged.

2

Skill of the day — 15 min

A focused block on one movement — a squat, a jump, a press, a pull-up progression. We coach the technique, then we let them practice and improve. They leave knowing they got better at something.

3

The workout — 15-20 min

A scaled, age-appropriate workout that combines what they've just learned with conditioning. Often turned into a game — relays, partner challenges, point-scoring — so it doesn't feel like exercise.

4

Cooldown & check-in — 5 min

A short cooldown game, plus a moment for kids to share what they're proud of from class. This is when the confidence sticks.

Common parent questions

What parents ask first.

Yes — when properly coached, which is exactly what we do. Our kids classes are coach-led, age-scaled, and technique-first. We don't put kids under heavy load. The youngest classes use only bodyweight. Even our teen classes use scaled loading appropriate to their stage of development. The focus is always on movement quality, not how heavy or how fast.

This is one of the most persistent myths in fitness — and the science is clear: properly coached strength training does not stunt growth. In fact, it builds bone density, improves coordination, and reduces injury risk in other sports. The American Academy of Pediatrics and NHS both endorse age-appropriate strength training for children.

Honestly? This is the place for them. Kids classes here aren't competitive in the traditional sense — there's no team to make, no bench to sit on. Every kid moves at their own pace. Many of our happiest kids are the ones who never felt good in school PE. They thrive when fitness is taught properly and inclusively.

We offer flexible packages depending on how often your child wants to train — from one session a week to multiple. The first class is always free so you can see if it's a fit before committing. We'll talk through pricing in your free intro chat.

Of course. Parents are always welcome to stay, watch the class, and see exactly what your child is doing. Many parents drop off and use the hour to do their own workout — speak to us about adult memberships at the same time.

We run kids classes after school during the week and on weekends, with timing that works around school pickup. Exact days and times will be shared in your free intro chat — we'll match you to whichever slot best fits your child's age group and your family's schedule.

Just comfortable workout clothes, trainers, and a water bottle. We provide everything else. No special kit, no lifting belt, no expensive gear — just your child and the willingness to give it a go.
